The project

Milmet

MILMET – Migrants Integration into the Labour Market and Ecological Transition – are the topics this project aims to gather all into one.
In many European countries, migrants and refugees are still facing severe obstacles (discrimination, cultural differences, language barriers, lack of recognition of their training and work qualification), that hamper their integration into the labour market.
Indeed, at European level, only 55% of migrants from developing countries are in employment compared to 68% for European Union Nationals; 39% live in relative poverty compared to 17% for European Union nationals and 70% of refugees are unemployed during the first four years following their arrival in the host country.
One challenge to create a successful inclusion into the labour market consists in developing training methods, adapted to the migrants’ needs and helpful to those willing to include the specific target group into their labour activities.
Several experiences, starting from our partners, have shown that a language training is better supporting and facilitating the process of integration from the beginning, when it’s simultaneously provided within the specific labour activity.
A second challenge for our community is linked to the ecological situation and, consequently, a growing labour market sector of green economy. In fact, to face the current climate and environmental issues, many companies are trying to change their production and consumption methods and are turning towards a local, social and solidarity-based economy. Social Enterprises, cooperatives, associations and other social economy actors, are creating more and more jobs in this field, meanwhile taking care of the aspect of work inclusion of persons with vulnerabilities.

With the implementation of MILMET, we would like to achieve the following objectives:
• integrate more efficiently migrants and refugees into the labour market identifying and increasing migrants’ vocational skills;
• involve green enterprises and migrants into the project’s activities (selection and participation in the activities);
• provide qualified manpower to green enterprises;
• raise awareness among enterprises and authorities about migrants’ integration issues.
